Modern Service

Addiction Medicine

An Addiction Psychiatrist focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals suffering from disorders related to substance abuse in addition to recognizing & addressing the biopychosocial elements contributing to one’s destructive behavioral patterns. Disorders involving drugs (legal and illegal), gambling, sex, food, and other impulse control conditions are often seen in conjunction with co-occurring psychiatric conditions. Unfortunately in Bucks County, there are a plethora of physicians practicing Addiction Medicine without truly understanding the psychological components of their patients’ illness. This can lead to misinformation, misdiagnosis, malpractice, greater dependency to prescribed medications, and other disastrous long-term consequences. Therefore, having an Addiction Psychiatrist who understands the mental health aspects, neurobiology of habitual behavior, and various treatment options for the substance abuse problem at hand is essential to the recovery process for the individual.

Both Dr Joseph Yi and Dr Jasmine Gill completed their psychiatry residency at Cooper University Hospital where Addiction Psychiatry and Medication Assisted Detoxification treatment was heavily emphasized during training. After residency, their years of experience in serving various hospitals and detox treatment centers in Bucks County and the Philadelphia area have lead them to reunite and create MODERN BEHAVIORAL – a medical practice specifically geared towards helping those struggling with mental health and/or substance abuse related disorders. Together they aspire to be the forefront providers, educators, and leaders of the psychiatric & addiction medicine community in the Newtown, Yardley, and Bucks County area. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you on your journey of recovery and health.
